University of Nairobi 2020 Virtual Inter-Denomination Prayer Day Thursday July 23, 2020

The University held the annual virtual prayers today July 23, 2020, at Taifa Hall.  The prayers were officiated by Catholic father Kaigua, Protestant Chaplain, and Muslim Chaplain.  The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiama was present and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs.  The annual prayers usually are held at the beginning of the year but due to COVID 19 pandemic, this year's prayers were carried forward to a favourable date which was today July 23, 2020.  

Funds to support Needy Students at the University of Nairobi

The Dean of Students' Office at the University is making an appeal to all well-wishers to support the needy students of the University.   The community will always have those who are able and those who are not.  The needy students need to study just like the other students for them to realize their dreams they need to be supported.  It is always good to share the little that we have with others.  The donations can be in the form of money or other consumables.  

Congratulatory Message to Prof. Albert Mumma on his confirment as a Senior Counsel

The University community is happy to have one of their staff appointed as a senior council by His excellence the president. Professor Mumma, a Ph.D. in Law holder from Cambridge University, Master of Law from Yale University, and Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Nairobi was conferred the rank of senior counsel alongside 24 other advocates including former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. 

University of Nairobi Inter-Denomination Virtual Prayer Day July 23, 2020

The University of Nairobi usually organizes for prayers yearly.  This year's prayer will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020, from 9.00 am to 10.30.30am.  The prayers will be online and all staff, students, and stakeholders are invited and encouraged to join the congregation by login on the University website as provided.  Due to the COVID 19 outbreak, these prayers will be online to be able to maintain social distancing and to prevent the spread of the virus as we were instructed by the ministry of held that there should be no face to face meetings.

Central Units Corruption Prevention Committee

The University of Nairobi constituted several committee to foresee the issues of corruption and report to the EACC.  The Central Units corruption committee comprises of the 22 units of central administration.  This committee is chaired by the University Finance Officer.  They usually hold quarterly meetings to deliberate on issues of corruption in their units and forward a report to university corruption committee which compiles all the reports submitted from colleges and central units then re-submit the same report to EACC.

University of Nairobi Virtual Sports Awards

Sports are generally recognised as a system of activities which are based on physical activities or games, which through casual or organised participation aim to use, maintain and improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to the participants.  The University of Nairobi held its sports ceremony today, at Taifa Hall, which happened virtually because of the pandemic.  Men and women who have been participating vigorously in various sports at the University were awarded trophies and certificates for their hard work. 

Corona on the Highways

It has been 100 days since the first Corona Virus case was reported in Kenya.  The cases for those infected by the virus has reached 5,000.  The cases have been increasing on daily basis but in the month of June the numbers reported have been very high with many wondering what could have triggered the numbers to increase that much. Most people have been seen not wearing the face masks and others though wearing the masks, are doing it wrongly by either covering the head or the chin for others. This could be one of the reasons why the rate of infections are escalating.

Online Selection of NHIF Outpatient Facilities

All members of staff are hereby requested to forward their current telephone numbers and personal Identification numbers through their head of section, department and principal's of colleges to Registrar Administration for processing and forward the same to the University of Nairobi Chief Medical Officer.    The National Hospital Medical scheme is a social Health Insurance operated by NHIF.  The scheme commenced its outpatient services in July 2015.  The scheme seeks to ensure that every individual or family of the contributor enjoy the inpatient and out-patient covers to save them from the
