CAPACITY BUILDING ON CORRUPTION PREVENTION, ETHICS AND INTEGRITY FOR CENTRAL ADMNISTRATION

Administration department held a sensitization capacity building on Corruption Prevention, Ethics and Integrity issues.  The occasion was graced by Deputy Vice Chancelor (A&F) Prof. Isaac Mbeche on behalf of the Vice Chancelor Prof. Peter Mbithi.  The event was well attended with about 102 members of staff. 

In the opening remarks the Prof. Mbeche informed the participants that the University of Nairobi has put in place strategies to eradicate corruption issues as corruption is the abuse of entrusted powers and it hurts everyone.  The University has formed various committees that deal with matters of corruption prevention, Ethics and Integrity in the Central Administration units and all the six Colleges of the University.  Senior members of staff have been also trained in Integrity Assurance by EACC.  He further urged the participants to ensure that they adhere to the service charter  as they render services to the customers. 

In the way forward, the registrar administration said that all units should open registers in the following areas; (a)Compliment/Complain register, (b) Gift received and issued register and (c) Conflict of interest register.

It was reported that all gifts received and issued must be registered and staff are not supposed to receive gifts from clients for official services offered.
