Training for College Disability Mainstreaming Committees and Staff with Disabilities held on Monday November 26, 2018 at the Central Catering Unit (CCU) Hall

The training was conducted by resource persons from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD). The training was officially opened by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (A&F) Prof. Isaac Mbeche who is also the Chairman of the Central Disability Mainstreaming Committee. In his Key note address he stated that the workshop would help strengthen the capacity of Disability Mainstreaming to measure the progress achieved and also develop new strategies for adaption for PWDs within the University, offer programmes suitable to all learners.

Members were enlightened on the functions of the Council which include;

  1.  Registration of PWDs Organizations and their institutions,
  2. mainstreaming of disability in private and public institutions,
  3. Economic empowerment for PWDs by:
  1. Providing grants to PWDs

ii. Assistive devices and scholarships

iii. Infrastructure improvement

iv. Tools of trade support

v. Social protection for PWDs.

vi. Albinism program

  1. LPO financing with AGPO.
